Dude, Get On That Already (Update)

Dude...

...there is so much to DO around here!

It recently occurred to me that I haven't done a house update in a while.  Pretty sure that it's been longer than a hot minute.  Like, a year and a half.

*hangs head in shame*

Sorry guys, but there's just been SO much going ON!  Like, I kinda had a baby.  And we've been trying to put in our front yard, back yard, and side patio on our own.  Ick.  And Brady got a new job.  And...our baby now has teeth.  And is teething.  And our son likes to sneak downstairs until around midnight, then wake up around 5 am.  So there's that.

And!

I've been writing posts to go along with all of our updates, but finding time to edit the pictures is like finding time to empty the lint trap in your dryer.  Duh.  Like, who ever finds time to do that?

Uh, I do.  You should too.  Like, all the time.  House fires me no likey.

Anyway...on to the "Dude" update!

NOTE:  A strike-through mean it's done, anything in teal has been changed since I last posted this update!

Entry / Foyer

address shoe hatchery (they're multiplying!) in entry area
* entry table - has to be long and shallow (preferably less than 12" deep), white, modern, DIY?
entryway runner - flat woven, grey trellis style (see above image)
* board and batten in entry hall
* doorway case molding in foyer
* replace builder lights in foyer (mini chandeliers? star pendents?) (Gah, still can't figure out what I want here...)
* replace builder light in entry (FOUND IT! Very cool, very large, and is getting a golden makeover before installation...stay tuned!)
* hang art in foyer (Did this for a year or so and with an ottoman below, but we switched it up when I found THIS!)
* hang gold mirror in entry (Decided I probably will lean it against the wall once we install the entry table Brady is building for me - finally bought the supplies!)
*

Great Room

* add cabinets / built-ins flanking fireplace
* install molding and mantel to fireplace box
* sofa table
* large area rug (8'x11'? 9'x12'?) (Okay, did this, and purchased a 9x12, but guess what? It was too big! When does that ever happen? Would've looked great if we had hard wood or laminate flooring throughout, but with the carpeted space it just looked...dumb.  It's rolled up for now, but I have another idea up my sleeve...)
* permanent draperies
* bamboo blinds for lower windows
* paint side tables (Still have to paint these, but no longer had space for them after we purchased a new sofa and love seat set - LOVE THEM!)
* hang art over built-ins
* ship and install family piano (Thanks Dad & Deb!)
* Paint craft armoire (Got it for FREE from my awesome sis-in-law, whom I told upon her purchase of said armoire, that if she ever wanted to get rid of it, she had better call me first! To see the transformation go here!)
*

Kitchen / Dining

* paint & reupholster dining chairs (x8)
* paint dining table (Yeah, decided against this 'cause the table is just so darn preh-tay.  Been living with it for nearly three years now, and it's just too big for our eat-in kitchen space.  Wah!  Found a new table and chairs set last month and it's in the middle of it's transformation!)
* window treatment (draperies / valance)
* kitchen runner (Bought a lovely kitchen runner; super excited; new puppy peed on it...twice. Removed kitchen runner; felt very sad; puppy is now fully potty trained, which is more than I can say for my three year old *sigh*; thinking of getting a new kitchen runner...Item stays on the list for now.) ;)
* finish capiz chandeliers
install Expedit buffet (FYI - we put in a dark espresso Expedit, sold it, put in a white one, but that's now moving to the master closet. Not sure what we're doing now. Hmmm...)
* paint island install painted white shiplap to island (Thought of painting and adding molding, but our island isn't rectangular or square, so it would look better with something more uniform, like shiplap!)
* cabinet hardware / pulls (Finally settled on hardware; been buying a few pieces at a time; installation coming soon!)
* paint / stencil accent wall in dining space
* dining area rug, something I can hose down - ha!
* hang something above pantry door
*

Master Bedroom

* hang white draperies (Sweet hubby did this for me while I was at the hospital with our little Ariah Lily - such a fun suprise!)
* buy king sized bed frame
* add white flokati? rug
* swap Ikea dresser for living room "console"
* paint dresser (wood top, white drawers?)
* new fan (Home Depot)
* fresh duvet / quilt
* hang ocean waves canvas art (This was propped up against our dresser for nearly a year, but I decided I'd like it better in our future family room downstairs.)
replace lack side dressers (move old dressers to closet/dressing room)
* twin lamps for bedside tables
* ottoman for foot of bed
* move bamboo blinds to Great room, buy shades with more privacy
*

Master Bath / Dressing Room

* install runner in bathroom
* paint cabinets (white? pale lavender?)
* add valance over window
* install chandelier over tub
add linen storage in corner (phase 1)
* built-in linen storage with pull outs (phase 2)
* frame builder mirror
* upgrade faucet
* cabinet hardware / pulls (brass?)
* replace builder lights in dressing room
add lack dressers to dressing room
* add shoe storage
* relocate washer/dryer hook ups to eastern wall, create wall enclosure (phase 2)
* install custom built-in shelving & cabinets to ceiling
*

Chloƫ's Room

(Poor ChloĆ«.  Her little brother, Ryker, moved in with her over a year ago when her new baby sister was born.  We had so many family members traveling from out of state to stay with us from June through the end of the year that it made sense to put the kids together in the same room and create a temporary guest room.  Ryker liked being with ChloĆ« so much that it stayed this way even after the visitors had gone home.  Ariah Lily ended up in Ryker's old room turned guest room for the past six months, until Ryker finally moved back into his old room and Ariah is now bunking with ChloĆ«. *whew!*

Being a toddler turned preschooler, the last year has been a time of exploration and curiosity for our little dude.  Ryker would climb up to the top bunk (not where he was supposed to sleep) and pull crystals off Chloe's chandelier.  Down that came.

Ryker has been working on his potty training, but earlier last year he would have regular blow outs.  Chloe's beautiful wool rug had it's fair share of whoopsies.  *sad face* Out that went.

More fascination with lights meant the string of white lights around the bed had to go, as well.

Poor Chloƫ.

But!  The good news is, our little Lily Belle can't climb a bunk bed, doesn't have poopy blow outs, and cannot reach the new strand of twinkle lights that I will now be buying her big sister.  The Frozen theme is still going strong (though not quite as obsessive as a couple years ago...have we finally learned to "let it go?"), so I'll be reinstalling all of the old decor, along with a few pretty updates that we never got around to once Ryker moved it.

paint loft bed white
new rug (5'x8')
assemble bed
* add curtains to bed loft section
hang drapes (added sheer white curtains along with blue and white panels)
* paint Ikea table & buy additional chair
* paint vanity table and paint/reupholster bench
* paint princess wardrobe
hang crystal chandelier (Aaaand, we're putting it back again!)
* create organized toy and book storage (See it here, yay Trofast!)
* add window seat?
*

Ryker's Room

* new drapes? (might change from pale aqua to navy blue)
* add bamboo shade
* fun rug, dark color
* install birch expedit (Did this, was in his room for six months, moved it out of room and into closet while his room was housing guests - we brought in a queen sized bed and the Expedit was a tight fit - Not sure now if we'll bring it back out into his room, or keep it in his closet...)
* new light fixture?
* hang art
* board and batten along eastern wall
* build new loft bed
* add Trofast as storage and stairs?
*

Loft

paint vintage console
* paint/re-imagine coffee table to game/Lego table
install two Billy bookcases (phase 1)
* install doors and upper extension Billy units (phase 2)
* build window seat (In progress...built, just need to finish upholstering the seat.)
* diy valance for window
* daybed / sofa bed for seating and overnight guests
* colorful rug
* chalkboard wall
*

Laundry Room

* hang art
* board and batten
* hang shelving (phase 1)
* install upper cabinets (phase 2)
colorful runner (Had this checked off on the last update, but I'm going a different direction with the color scheme, sooOo, new runner it is!)
fill void at entry with laundry basket storage (phase 1)
* fill void at entry with base cabinets (phase 2), possible sink?
* paint cabinets or paint walls (What do you think? White cabinets, colorful wall, or white wall and colorful cabinets?)
*

Kid's Bathroom

* hang art above toilet
* new towels
add bath mat/rug
* frame builder grade mirror
* cabinet hardware / pulls
* paint cabinets?
* board and batten
* add three hooks for towels (It took months, but I finally found hooks! Just waiting on board and batten so I can install them - ha!)
*

Cold Pantry

* add shelving for food storage and extra toiletries (Now have four shelving units downstairs for food and extra toiletries. We might add two more...)
* install insulated door (basement phase)
* add more light fixtures
*

* heating / air estimate
* finish framing office/storage rooms
* kitchenette??
* drywall
* mud

* add gravel to 3rd bay side yard for truck
* design landscape layout concept for front and back (trees, rocks, sod, bushes, veggie garden, fire pit, etc.)
* DIY glass fire pit in backyard (phase 2)
* lay patio behind 3rd bay, build pergola and add climbing vines, outdoor dining (phase 2)
* build deck? (phase 2)
* add fencing to side and back yard
*

You know we're going to keep adding to the list, but that's part of the fun!  Besides, what's more fun than crossing things off a list?  Nothing. ;)

Well, there you have it!  Updates galore!  I was amazed to see how much we have done for our master bedroom, considering that's typically the last place people devote time to decorating/renovating.  Who sees it but you and maybe your spouse, right?  Let me tell you, it is SO important!  Everyone needs a private, restful space that feels just right.  Seriously, start there. ;)
